New Boxter Front End Thumping

Hi All, new to the forum. I just purchased a new 2013 Boxter. Love the car but something seems amiss. When I turn the wheel while backing up, I hear a loud thumping noise coming from the front right wheel along with some shaking. Not sure how many new Boxter owners out there, but I have heard others having the same issue. Its going back to the dealer on Monday, but has anyone heard of this issue?

Congrats on the new Boxster! It's a stunning Porsche. Go back to your dealership. Check back in, and post your repair, when know.

This is likely normal. Both my 987 Base Boxster with very low mileage and my friends brand new 991 'S' did this the other night when it was cold backing out of his driveway. His driveway is on a hill and at the bottom have to turn the car sharply to get on the flat road surface. This same question was posted on Planet-9 and other folks felt it was normal too. I know for sure there is nothing wrong with my car or my friends. Were you turning sharply? It sounds like the tire is jumping across the pavement and it makes a strange sound. Let us know what dealer says, though I'm guessing you are ok.

It does sound like the normal tire scrub while turning sharply.

Hey Staten Island!!

It's B-O-X-S-T-E-R not Boxter. (Boxer engine + Roadster = Boxster)

Congrats on your new acquisition. Take good care of her, someone on here will be looking to buy her in 4 years.
