Talking 2001 Boxster Exhaust/Muffler

I apologize first because this post is probably addressed elsewhere in the forum, but I haven't found it yet and it's taking too long. I have a 2001 Boxster. I want to change the tips to dual exhaust, but from what I understand, it isn't possible to just chop off the tips and attach new dual tips because most dual tips are too long (9 inches or more). I know the Porsche Sports Exhaust is awesome but I simply don't have $1600 to spend on it. What are my choices? Do I have to change out the entire muffler, or are there places that make dual tips that aren't so long? Also, would a muffler from a 2003 Boxster S fit on my 2001 Boxster?

Thank you in advance. :troll:

On your year the tip is welded on. So you need a muffler from the S. 2000-2002 will work, as will 2003-2004.

If you want a new exhaust with dual outlets, my first suggestion would be the B and B. This is a great piece. New about 900.00.
Right now or recently, there was one on EBAY for 300.00 or so. Check it out.
You could always buy the stock S muffler if the prior claim that 00 -02 will work on your vehicle. There is also one on EBAY for not alot. A muffler shop will probably charge 100.00 or less to install.

Another thought in Performance Products catalog, a new Dansk system is like 900.00 and lets you choose one of 4 tip style.

Worth a look.
best of luck,
