N.E. dd: boxster vs cayman

which do you think is a better dd in the northeast-comfort,visibility,safety,etc. a 2009 boxster or 09 cayman? snow tires/wheels could be put on either.

Hi Kriss,

I have not driven the Cayman but drive my 2001 Box base in summer and winter. The Boxster actually is a great winter driver and I would think that the Cayman/Boxster have same road clearance. I was attracted to the Box for its lines and as convertibles go it has great lines especially the rear. The Boxster even without a hardtop has great protection against the snow and cold. Warms up quickly, dont notice any convert. top noise.Make sure whatever u get has heated seats. Very necessary here and presumably where u are.
Do not find the need for a hardtop except for security. Comfort is great with the convertible. My next P car would likely be a coupe of some kind. The Cayman is out of my price range now but in a few years would consider a P car with no ims! What is important to u - a top that goes down or does not?

Safety wise I would think that the Cayman would provide more head protection.

Driven both in winter conditions, I would favor the Cayman, particularly if limited slip diff equipped, but prefer the Boxster in warmer weather............

Cayman hands down for a DD in all weather. It will be warmer in tough winters, easier to brush off and keep clean of ice in general. Offers more protection from vandalism without convertible top. Unless you live in So Cal, drop tops need to sleep deep during winter.

The road slop wouldn't be very good for a convertible top.
