He's talking about actual 997 wheels, if I read the post correctly....

997s have 11 inch wide versus 9.5 inch wheels, and the offsets are 57 front 67 rear...

Boxster S offsets are 57 front and 46 rear. So the rear wheels are 1.5 inches wider but will sit almost an inch further in.

Seems like you'd mess up the track, plus the balance of the car as you'd have to run 285s or 295s on the 997 rear wheel.

Anyone tried them to see?

BTW, I have 19" Carrera S wheels in Boxster sizes for sale if you're interested

With the 997 offset the wheel would sitting much further in towards the center of the car and, on top of that, it is an 1.5" wider so you'd really have clearance problems.

Do yourself a favor and buy the Boxster version of the wheel from Chris C Atlanta, bolt them up and go.

Didn't think it was a great idea

Thanks guys. I have a set of 19" Carrera S wheels (987 version) already on order. I had seen a set of 997s for sale and began to wonder, hence the question. Since many argue performance decreases when going to the 19s I figured it would probably suffer even more when widening that tire. I do like the fat rubber on the 997s though.
