After reading a previous thread about age, it seems the average 986 forum user is younger than I thought. I just wanted to set this poll up to crunch the numbers. Please participate in the poll.

By the way this poll may be weighted unfair because the younger generations are more pron to the internet,so in reality there are more well aged Boxster owners in real life.

I think i might be the youngest on here. 17 and i drive a Box :D

Hi to all! I'm 27 right now and got my Boxster 3 weeks after my 27th b-day. It's a 1997 with 35k miles on it. It's been 6 months now and so far, its has been trouble free. I joined this forum (along with other Boxster forums) to gain knowledge of the car we love to drive and praise it's faults...and also learn DIY stuff since my car is way out of warranty and no extended warranty company would provide one. I regret to say that I'm not going to pay $200 for an oil change. Not to be labeled as cheapeskate but I just bought a house earlier this year (before I turned 27). BTW, I'm single.

I guess the mid-life crisis is still in tact. 30-45 range seems to be higest so far. :dance:

Mid-life? God.. I hope I make it further than 66. *shrugs* who knows, though. Could get hit on the head with a coconut tomorrow.

If owning a Boxster, or any Porsche for that matter, is a equated to a mid-life crisis, I would venture to guess that there are a lot of people out there who would love to be having a "crisis"!!

I think I heard it here on this forum once..."it is more of a mid-life celebration!"

Wonder if these numbers are typical of Boxster sales overall? It's a decent sample size - I would think it would match fairly well.

"Mid-life crisis? No! Life long obsession!" I read that in one of the forums sometime ago and it's a great response. In fact, for many it is true.

As I see it, no matter how old or young we are, when we climb behind the wheel of a Porsche, we're all the same age.

if you do a search on this site for "mid life crisis" you'll find a very long thread devoted to it. In a nutshell, I'm 43 have had this comment come from:

a) Older women, or
b) Divorced women

Call me a cheauvanist pig if you like, but I gotta call 'em like I see 'em.

It seems to be a comment born out of ignorance of the person in question (if you knew me you wouldn't say that), a lack of tact (keep your judgements in your head, not on the tip of your tongue), or from someone who has experienced a lot of unresolved hurt and has bitterness (yeah, your ex-husband WAS a complete jerk in my book too, but don't lump us all together in the same ball of dysfunction!).

I have never heard this statement from another man. Men always say they wish they had the cash to do it because they've always wanted a Porsche.

I've seen men and women alike in the midst of a mid-life crisis and it ain't pretty. I'm far to happy a year after purchase for this to be a mid-life crisis!

I heard this comment allot also.
I'm 32(pass for 25-27) and was dating some 21 year olds. Every girl over 25 just shook her head and said a Porsche and young girls? "mid-life crisis tisk tisk"

Whew, sorry, didn't mean to get emotions all stirred up. Just a little observation.

For the record, the Boxster is the wife's and we picked the Boxster because my wife is tall and it's the only convertible we could find (besides the Toyota Solara) that her head didn't hit the top. When she first saw one on the road and said "I like that one" I said "Yeah, right! That's a Porsche! In your dreams!". When I looked at the 2000 MY and saw it was the same price as the new Solara (couldn't find used ones anywhere) I about passed out with excitement. From then on, it's been Heaven on Earth. :D

I'm 21 but got the Box when I was 20.

Im 57 and proud of the fact. I have to acknowledge that I have to thank my wife for suggesting the Porsche in the first place. I was ready to buy another Audi S-4. After 37 yrs of marriage I learn to follow a good thing and her suggestion was 100% better than mine. The mid life crisis thing is way over blown. A phrase like that is used by someone that is envious or mean spirited. I will leave it at that. The great diversity in age group here is a testament to Porsche and how well the car attracts clientele from all age groups. The youngsters here have to be commended of their mature and good taste as well as the others finally achieving their life long dream of ownership of such fine sports car from a marque steep in a tradiion of racing and innovation. As the romans would say Carpe Diem and enjoy it as much as possible for life is too short.

I'm hitting 33 this year and I also think the whole "mid-life crisis" thing is a misnomer. "Crisis" seems to have a negative vibe. I think a better phrase would be "mid-life realization".

Had to get to over 50 to really enjoy the Boxster. I had a 924 15 years ago....not the same at all!!

Just passed the big 4....0 had boxsters for the last 4 years and feel like a 20 year old when driving, well like a safe twenty years old!

29, but only a boxster owner for a couple months.
