New member need help!

Hi!
My name is Jocke and I'm from Sweden (Europe).
I'm planing to buy a Boxster S, 2000. with 180000 km on the meter. The car is in good stand with all options and Ht. Face lift head and back lamps, 18" Turbo replica wheels with good tires.
My question is. is it any thing special to think of before buying it?
Best regards Jocke from Sweden:dance:

You would be wise to have the vehicle thoroughly inspected by a knowledgeable and qualified Porsche tech before making any purchase. Furthermore, the one thing that is most concerning regarding engine reliability for the 986 boxster, is the potential for the IMS bearing to fail. There's lots of information here on the forum about it. With that said, there's a wealth of knowledge amongst members here. So don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Jocke,
Welcome, there are several buyers guides on here. An independent inspection is always recommended as there are a few mechanical things to be aware of. A good service history is important for these to keep troubles at bay.
I inspected my own (as I am ex trade), but I still researched them first.

Good luck, but if you do get issues, there is a great Technical section here!

Smile Couple of suggetions...

Jocke,

Definitely check out Mike Focke's Boxster pages - this one in particular, and by all means have a Porsche mechanic do a Pre Purchase Inspection.

Good Luck!

Have PPI done and and have a maintenance history of the car. If it's stick shift and has the original clutch that is an expensive repair. Good luck and the car looks nice, like the wet look.Check out my 2000S.

If those wheels are factory stock they are an expensive option, just thought you would want to know, car looks nice.
