Simple story: Wife thought the motorcycle was too dangerous. Was impressed by beauty of 1999 Boxster and thought convertible would be fun. Discovered too late that the back of the seat was too low and I'd hit my head on the rollbar in case of a collision, and that the engine had the IMS problem. Also, wife decided she didn't like the convertible. Decided to trade but couldn't find anything else I liked. Considered the then-new 370Z but could not see well out of it. OTOH the 08 Cayman had better visibility and rode better than the Z, plus it had tall seats, no rollbar, the "improved" IMS, full new-car warranty, and was better looking than the Boxster or the Z. Wife loved it and dealer gave five figure discount at the depths of the recession, causing it to cost less than the 370Z. In 20-20 hindsight, I wish I'd shopped around for a Cayman with more factory accessories but it's still improving.
