Close Encounters of The Cayman Kind

Pulled into BP for fuel last night and this gorgeous 2006 Cayman S pulled up to the pump next to me. Had a nice conversation with the owner, but it put my baby to shame...
Just thought I'd share

While I do like the Cayman, it is really just a Boxster with a roof. I love my convertible and would never want to give it up.

Yeah, I'm not sure why a Cayman would put a Boxster to shame. Roof envy?

He put mine to shame because mine was dirty and bug splattered and the Cayman was fresh from the wash. That, and the whole 3.4 thing. Very mutual respect and was really a cool experience. First time I've ever talked in person with another Porsche owner. Made me feel better after my recent run in with the "crotch rocket kidz".

Just shows that yours is driven and appreciated. His sits in the garage while he sips a latte and admires it...

well for the sake of argument I'm not so sure the 3.4 would be a huge advantage over a 986 Boxster S (closer years). When the Boxster Spyder and Cayman R went head to head on a karting track in one of the auto magazines the Boxster Spyder was faster and easier to drive lap after lap. I was surpised thinking the tin top woud provide better rigidity but it turned out to be a disadvantage.

Owning both, there are times when a Boxster is the appropriate vehicle and times when the Cayman is. When I want to go out on a weekend, I'll take the Cayman so I don't have to worry about someone cutting my top. And I prefer the Cayman for DEs.

I'm in St. Joseph, MConte

Love my Glacier White Boxster and the contrast between the two was awesome! This was the first time that I've seen another Porsche in person and up close, aside from on the highway, so I was quite taken

I love the Cayman profile. Looks like the 1970s 911s that I fell in love with. I think it is funny that I own one of the greatest looking cars ever, and two of the ugliest.

Nice two of the coolest cars around in one garage.

Like I always say, if you can't decide, get both!
