I thought about using hot glue and I bet that would work great. But in the end I went with black silicone adhesive/sealant. I've used it before to repair all kinds of stuff like silicone watch bands, and it holds up well. Plus, it's easy to remove - just cut through it with a razor, then peel off the residue.
