Over the weekend installed cheap after market exhaust and installed baffles from watching TTGator youtube videos. The drone is still noticeable but not obnoxious.

Most difficult was removing stock exhaust. I didn't remove the rear bumper. After getting the exhaust brackets and clamps loose, I removed the bracket bolted to the transmission which allowed me to access the two dreaded bolts that mount at the top of the exhaust bracket. (1998 Boxster) Wife held the new exhaust in place so I can mount it back up before reattaching the pipes. The new exhaust is not heavy at all but I was tired from removing the stock exhaust.

OK, now we need an orange wrap thread sir.

Replaced the roached climate control LCD with the 914rubber kit. Wife and I nailed it first try. Special tools: Brand-new screwdriver, small, to remove circuit board screws. I'm learning to use sharp, clean, correct size screwdrivers when messing with electronics (I'm pretty ham-fisted, but I'm getting better). Brand-new one-inch putty knife to remove trim piece.

Total cost of special tools: $2.

Today I fixed the foam blowing from my interior vents. Once I got inside, I could see that my blend doors were still fully covered with foam, which is why I didn't have any issues with the heat or A/C. But it was deteriorating, which is why I would get pieces blowing out of the vents. So I ripped it all out. That, and getting the tape on relatively straight, were the hardest parts of the job. On my 2003, there is an internal horizontal gusset on the right side of the interior of the duct, about where the bottom of the right hand cut on the duct ends. So when I bent the cut part of the duct down, it broke off horizontally across the 2 vertical cuts. When I was done I used a piece of plastic and 2 screws to secure the cut piece on the bottom.

Earlier in the week I took off the front bumper cover and cleaned out my ductwork and radiators. My low tone horn was out, so I replaced that too.

And the week before I installed the GT3 center console delete kit.

So I set a goal of 3 projects for myself this winter and I accomplished them all.

Dropped the cleaned up headlamps at my new best friends at the local body shoppe. Fresh coat was still baking in the oven at five when they shut down for the weekend.

That foam that’s blowing out of the ducts on all these 22 year old cars, WTH? Okay, like you said above, “3 projects for Winter”, lol. That leaves the one... AMAZON NITROUS TANKS for all my friends! Peace, all.

Changed the oil and noticed there was what appeared to be a small leak from the right side axle seal. I didn't feel like ripping out the axle to change the seal, so I just got some Mobil1 75w90 Gear Oil to make sure it doesn't run dry. It took about .2 liters! YIKES! Could someone tell me the capacity is? I'm curious how much was actually in there.

The good news is that the oil and filter came out clean and free of debris. :dance: Last oil change I got a scare with some shavings, but I guess that was a result of the time my (soon-to-be-EX) wife did DE.

I wanna say 2 liters. I bought some Mobile 1 last year, but it never made it in the gearbox cause of the funky safety drain plug this car has. So I just topped mine off.

Since I was doing a brake flush yesterday I decided to clean up the back side of my wheels. Who knew they had such a light color to them.

In 2 weeks it's oil & filter change, spark plugs and tubes.

Yeah they don't seem to put much paint on the inside of the Porsche wheels. I have 2 different sets and they're all like that!

Have a guy working over my CLU. He suggests mine is too far gone to repair. So I guess I'm looking for an M535. I posted in WTB/FS9 Section. But let me know if you got one! Obviously don't want a water damaged one.

Had the front brakes done. Discovered she was leaking oil, cleaned the engine bay and will drive a bit to determine source.

And I cleaned a lug bolt. Amazing how much corrosion and crap came off - I'm sure they've never been cleaned in 22 years. 19 to go!

I work from home under normal circumstances. I have found over the years that little projects like cleaning or polishing things provide a nice mental mini-break when I'm stressed.

I spoke with my wheel guy about this when I had my Carrera Light wheels refurbed. He said that the inner barrels of all silver painted Porsche wheels of our generation are finished with a high strength catalyst coating which is light gray in color. The exterior finish color(s) (arctic silver and seal gray in my case) is (are) never applied to inner wheel barrels from the factory. In fact, he mentioned that Porsche concours judges will dock points if the inner wheel barrels do not have the factory gray coating.

Yesterday I replaced the trailing arms and now the rattle over bumps is gone. Today I replaced the brake pads, and the screech is gone, and replaced the rear bottom panel with a new one, and the tie-wrap shortcuts are gone. A couple of minor tweaks and the car is in better shape than it ever was since we purchased it. Took the wife out for a top-down test drive and it felt fantastic!

Ordered my touch up paint and Zaino products this morning. I used Zaino on my 2005 Mustang GT that was a similar color and it always looked amazing so I'm going that route again this time. Plus, Zaino is pretty easy to work with, which has become more important as my back and neck get worse; that was a key factor as well.

Plan is to work panel by panel. Clean it up, touch it up, seal it up. By the time I'm done touching up the last panel it should be time to start sealing each panel.

Installed by Cobra Suzuka seats, changed the oil, and aired down the tires to get ready for the road.
