Passed the annual state inspection (waiting on the sticker) then I finally got around to the DRL hack.

Cool! how or where did you get that wind fairing behind the seats to light w/Porche emblem?

BruceH 07-06-2017 01:25 PM

Thanks! The windscreen is another of Fred's amazing works of art :D

I don't believe so, unless Fred has a hidden stash.

Finished front lower control arms, tie rods and wheel bearings. Waiting for new axle nuts and drop links and then off for an alignment.

Replaced the cracked passenger side headlight washer cover. I had thought that while I was in there, I would reroute the frunck manual release cable to the tow hook but I did not like the acute angle of the cable after it was relocated (a two minute job if you're already in there). I ended up using two long zip ties to loosely secure the cable to the wiring bundle that exits the frunck near the rear of the headlight opening. I'll still have to open up the wheel well to reach it, but at least it will be easy to find.

Getting ready for PCA NER AX tomorrow.

I did DIY magnetic numbers. Bought the thickest magnetic stick-on sheet I could find on Amazon. Printed the numbers on 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper on my laser printer, covered the sheets with packing take and stuck them on to the magnetic sheets. The look great and stick well to the doors.

We may get some thunderstorms so all the supplies and tools are packed into a storage container. If firs perfectly in the frunk, and the tool box is in the trunk with my helmet and two tarps. No room for chairs, just a small cooler. We are two drivers, so passenger seat is not available.

GoPro is charging and the SLR is ready.

Could be a wet one, Anker. Lots of fun slippin' and slidin'. Enjoy.

I decided that the with the arm rest painted red it looked a little too much for me so I went back to the way it was and went red on the bezel above the door handle. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1499457983.jpg

More subtle.

I think it will be fine, Gary. But even if its wet I'll enjoy it! :-)

Road trip

I've been racking the miles up including a 2200 km trip through the mountains to southern BC last week. This included a 7km trip up a mountain in 1st gear on a rough gravel road for some hiking and lunch.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1499474467.jpg

I've just washed it and cleaned the interior. Now it looks quite good. :)

Probably better than the roads in Alberta... less pot holes at least:cheers:

A fund day at the PCA NER AX yesterday. The guy with the beard is not me, but my good friend Chris, who also drove my car.

A big line of thunderstorms reduced the number of runs, but made for some fun driving in the wet.

What did I do with my 1999 Boxster today?
Taped and sealed where the top of the vinyl window ripped away from from the roof, caused by shrinkage.

Looking forward to getting her back on the road before my birthday Thursday.

Saturday, vacuumed and cleaned the interior and installed a fire extinguisher with a metal bracket attached to the passenger seat.

Sunday replaced front brake pads and rotors, followed by a "test drive"

Monday - day spent on family responsiblity

Tuesday (today) picked up helmet and numbers for DE in August. All the running around in the Boxster, top down if just me, top up with my wife to get Gelato and take her to the library (recovering from eye surgery).

PaulE 07-11-2017 12:53 PM

Picking mine up from the body shop tomorrow, going to my Indy for a Tech inspection and Thursday morning I'm driving up to Mt Trmeblant for a 3 day HPDE. Woo-hoo!
