Just returned from the F1 in Austin. A 2,500 mile round-trip. Got to see the race, and drive on the new Texas high speed toll road. The speed limit on the newly finished section near Lockhart is 85 mph.

Today I wrote off/trashed my Boxster?

Swerved for a dog on a wet and icy bend here in England. last night.
span the car anti clockwise and over a high curb, smashing off two wheels.

entire wheel hug/rotor everything torn off like pulling the wings of a fly, serious damage i'm thinking all the way through, horrific looking. pipes and struts sticking out like a fractured elbow joint.

Just waiting for the insurance inspector at Porsche Derby to tell me whether its a write off or not- car value is about 6k, if they cut me a cheque for 5500 ill take it and run.

sad sad day, the end of the most beautiful car I have ever owned :(

sympathy please :)

:(

BruceH 11-29-2012 07:59 AM

Well, at least the dog is happy as is their owner. Sucks about the car though:(

Vista glass 11-29-2012 11:44 PM

Sorry to hear about the car. I hope you are unscathed.Perhaps another boxster in the future?Kharma you know.

recycledsixtie 11-30-2012 04:54 AM

Murph you got my sympathy too. Terrible to wreck your P car like that. Years ago I hit and killed a large dog. Not good either. Boxsters 2nd hand are relatively cheap. I hope u get a good settlement from the ins. co. Let us know what the outcome is.

Paid the dealership $175 to reset the ecu for smog. The catalyst check was not completing so they are going to force it.

  1. Replaced ballast resistors in both fans (2 days ago)
  2. R&R rear litronic leveling sensor (1 day ago)
  3. Troubleshoot driver side low beam problem - light turns off intermittently, restarts every time. Ordered bracket clip and connector to R&R loose plug
  4. Tested for slipping clutch using the 30 mph 3rd to 5th test -- passed

Cleaning didn't do the job so I had to drop $500 for a new MAF

Just got it back together after painting the console, door pulls & inner sill trim.

Went to talk to my mech about hunting idle, he told me to clean the TB. He then said ok lets look now - no charge. Runs much better.

Went to dealer for new key - AED 760 (about $200) for key remote and programing. Feel better now I have 2 keys even if one only starts it.

Took it for short spin down Al Kaihl road (Dubai) as the sun was shining (poured down yesterday - got soaked watching the rugby).

Not a darn thing... I keep trying to come up with something that I can tinker with, but no luck. She's pretty solid and looking spotless, so I sit and wait for spring :(

Sleep

I just put our 2000 base to sleep for the winter. I changed the oil and washed it one last time. Have to clean it out a bit and get a battery tender. I over inflated the tires and released the parking brake.

Good night until next year.

Really sad sad story...well you didnīt hurt yourself thatīs the best of it!
Hope you get the chance to own another one soon, one thing great about England you can get a 986 for the half price that you get it here in Portugal.

It was 77 degrees and sunny today in Oklahoma and my Box is bright red. So, what else but drop the top and drive around and look at Christmas lights. Not much luck so far but as soon as we re-ruel and wait for the sun got go down we will be back out enjoying the season!

Spent the day (yes, again) at Willow Springs racetrack. Had an awesome day catching and passing much more powerful Porsche cars. The handling of the Boxster is amazing.
