Top up top down?

Just a general easy question:
When you guys take the car out to, say the groceries or something. When you park, is the top up or down?

Those with speedster humps have it permanently down, but what if it rains?

Up.

I converted mine over to a power clam shell and manual top. It is up or down 10 times quicker and not as much wear and tear on the system.

1. i don't take the boxster on grocery runs but...
2. in general if i stop for an errand while having fun and the top is already down, it generally stays down. i use a red clip.
3. if i am going to be away from the car for more than a few minutes (such as a stop at a mall, etc.) of if i stop at a restaurant and i won't be able to keep an eye on it, then the top goes up.

Down. If it's already down. With red clip. Unless it's like an all day stop. When I was 20 or so my best friend got a new 914, and whenever we took his car to a saloon or restaurant or such, we had to sit by a window so he could keep an eye on his car. Which he would do the WHOLE time we were there.
Life's too short.

Mine's a daily driver. I take it everywhere. Grocery shopping, work, errands, etc. It's a car. I use it as such.

If the top is down while I'm driving, I'd leave it down when I park. Pretty much anywhere. With the red clip. Not that the top would be up if I didn't have the red clip. I'd probably leave it down regardless.

My biggest concern about parking somewhere with the top down isn't someone doing something malicious to my car. My biggest concern is coming back and finding bird crap on my interior!

Like others, I leave it down. I tested the red clip to see just how protected the contents of the car were. I was a bit disappointed, so if I have anything of value it goes into the frunk.

Mine is also a daily driver. I live in Arizona do if it isn't the rain that I'm worrie about, it's the unforgiving sun damage and heat that kills the car. If I'm in a parking garage or if it's at night, I tend to leave the top down... But I'm always nervous leaving the top down when I can't see my car for reasons mentioned above.

I wonder how hump owners deal with this problem

On a side note, the 981 top goes up and down under 30mph. This is a feature I truly want

Then why not make your 986 do this, for free?
Top Operational while-in-motion

Or, you can pay upwards of $300 and have it perform virtually exactly like the 981.

You mean something like this?? If the "bomb" was released a millisecond later, it would have been on the driver's seat!! It's a life altering moment for convertibles.

my car is DD and the top is down unless it's raining.

I used to always drive my 2001 base with top down unless it was raining or it was too cold. (Thank god for the heated seats!)
And when I parked, the top stayed down.

Last year, I changed to 2003 top with glass.
Since then, I put the top up all the time when parking.

Top always down. I've got the humps so it's a bit inconvenient to put the top up. Like mentioned above, life's too short to worry about what is going to happen to your unattended car with the top down. I did get caught in a rainstorm. In my haste to get remove the humps and get the top up, I busted the clips on my deflector. And as soon as I got my top up, the rain stopped.

Drive with the top down and park with the top up.

When parked, if the top is down its too easy for someone to throw crap into the interior as a joke.
