Wind deflector question

I am a new owner of a pre-owned 2012 boxster base. I spoke to my local dealer about installing a wind deflector. He quoted me thee following:

Part# 00004480078 wind deflector $660
Installation - About $500.00 (3 hours).

This does not include New York state tax.

Is this possible?

This is my first experience with the Huntington , NY Porsche dealership.

Ye$. Adding option$ through the Por$che Tequipment proce$$ is very expen$ive. It's a great option, and a "must have" if doing top-down driving in early spring or late fall, with the heat cranked and the heated seats.

Maybe buy the parts from Sunset Porsche, but then maybe your local dealership will not install them. May ask, and see what they say. Or call around to another dealership and ask for a more competitive quote. Some may even give you a PCA discount (10%ish).

You could always DIY.....but that requires you drilling into your roll bar. Something I would not be willing / skilled enough to do.

Installation is 1 hr by anyone with reasonable skill with hand tools and a power drill. 2 wrenches on the Pelican scale. A local Porsche indy shop could do it or even a decent handyman. It was the first mod I did on the car and now I never use it.

Thank you. I actually juSt spoke to the dealer and he came back to me with a price of $464.60 for the part plus $200 for install. I think I will let them handle but now there is credibility issue!

Hmm my 2003 has a 1" scratch in top right corner from prev owners... I didn't realize it was $100 to replace that... Since the entire thing is already installed it should be easily replaceable... Does anyone know if there are part # or shape/size differences between different years?

redrover you should definitely get one! Plus a nice place to put a Porsche sticker..heh.
