Thumbs up nice...

Looks pretty cool, wonder if you loose the ability to use the boot if you put it on...

But the best thing about it must be that when the weather is good, you can take it off and enjoy the fresh air....

This is nicely done IF you like the Cayman's lines. I am waiting to see one in the flesh but my initial take is negative.

I simply think the Cayman looks like Porsche decided to slap a coupe together and the box was waiting.

Since the Box ragtop looks SOOOOOOOO good, I am not a fan, yet.

However, if I were Porsche, this new top cited would REALLY upset me.

For folks who DO like the coupe look, this top seems like a real and less costly alternative.

Usually removable hardtops look pretty bad (see the 996 top for an example) but this is slick indeed.

I bet there are some embarrased designers at Porsche right now.

Good stuff.

I didn't see a price on that, did anyone else?

Send a message via AIM to blinkwatt
Yeah that top would look on a CAYMAN not a BOXSTER.

I wonder if that company will make a 986 cayman top. I'd consider that one as I do not like the hard top for the 986 at all!

I emailed them 2 days ago and just heard back.As of now, they are building the MK1 version which is for the 986 and the next generation zeintop will be for the 987.It is coming out in September 2006 for around $4500.They are taking orders now by email.

I like the looks of it better then the regular hardtop but it seems expensive. It would be nice to see them bring it down to around $3000 but we'll have to wait and see.

The top looks great, but at $4,500 I'm likely to pass. Rear window defrost??

Frank, I am a little surprised by your answer. I am not trying to rip on you dude, but maybe you should have been as willing to spend a few extra grand on your blown/damaged engine, and you could have been driving your Boxster the past few months, instead of filing a lawsuit.

Everyone has the choice to spend their money as they see fit, so I apologize in advance, if this offends you.

Fyi

"Hi Speed, I am a co founder of the concept and co owner of the company. The design was born in Switzerland and brought to reality by a JV between Swiss and South African automotive engineers who have worked on projects for Concorde, Recaro, MB SLR Mclaren, Hummer LHD to RHD conversion etc..

The product is young and the prototype is generating so much hype we are battling to keep up with information sharing. In future news will be published at www.zeintec.com but for now delivery is expected to be 3rd Qtr 2006. Product will be constructed of 60% carbon fibre, will be equipped with glass not polycarbonate windows and will be fitted with a demister. Fitting is a 2 man job but does not have to be done by specialist fitment centre. It does involve removal of your Boxster boot lid.

Many thanks for your enquiry. Zeintec will be taking orders from December 2005.

Thanks for the update.

Keep in mind that advertising here on 986 Forum is very inexpensive and we have the best set of Boxster members in the world.

Of course, I am biased but it is TRUE!

Best of luck with your new product.

Oh, well that's rather inconvenient, now isn't it?
