Leaky Rear Trunk

It's been rainy here in Northern Colorado and I've noticed a musty smell and isolated it to the rear trunk, passenger side. The carpet is wet. This only happens during heavy rains, which I believe rules out a coolant leak. I was rooting around in the drain plugs under the top (You have to have the top half down to inspect) and there seems to be some pine needles and leaves blocking them. Any recommendations on the best way to remove them? I'm going to try that first before I replace the tail light seal...Has anyone else had any luck with this remedy?

... hose with a pressure nozzle.
Put the tip of the nozzle into the drain and FLUSH.

I use an air hose with a pointed nozzle and a trigger. Gives you control and pressure in the right place at the right time. A good blow job never hurt anyone.

Clear out everything that you can by hand and then definitely use an AIR hose, not a water hose. One quick burst of air and it should clear out any debris in the drain tube.

Do the front drains too as long as you're at it (next to the battery in the front trunk).
