Same reason probably why he let you drive it at 16. If you've been borrowing the SUV / jetski for a while, you owe it to at least give him a chance to borrow the car despite the assumption of abuse. Just talk to him before hand. If it comes back with signs of abuse, then cut him off. My 2c.
