Photo of my suspension with questions...

So I took the rear wheels off to try and find out why my car clunks over bumps at slow speeds. This photo is showing my rear control arm. First question, am I supposed to be able to see through this part, or is this bushing shot? Second, what part is the control arm connect to? A frame?
I'm just trying to figure out what I need to fix this. Not sure a new rear control arm has all of the parts I'm looking at here.
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!
