I must agree, with others here, your statements lead us to believe that you are likely less than honest.

"I picked up my 00 2.7 for $5500 he was asking $10500."

I seriously doubt this.

"I was able to find a complete black glass top with frame for $350."

Id love to know where you found this.

"Spend the first half hour focusing on the seller and what they do, family, friends, pets, interests ect... After a half an hour the seller will feel as you are a close friend and everyone always wants give a friend a deal"

That is just creepy as hell.

"Then lowball the hell out of him. See is he comes down at all and maybe come up just a hair. If he does not take the offer leave your number and let him know that you need to check your finances. Tell him that you want the car(if you do) and walk away!!"

Lowball the hell out of him? Really??

"This method works 95% of the time. I have been using this method for years and used it last week. I purchased an 04 Discovery for $2700 when the asking was $6200"

Again...I seriously doubt this.

"I have purchased over 35 cars in my life time and I am only 36 and never have lost a dime on a vehicle"

Come on.......BS.

"My job is to low ball people and contractors and get the best value for my money."

Sounds kinda low class to me.
Seriously, did max run out and contact you to help you win his battle.

1. I did purchase my 00 for my wife, the car was purchased at auction in Orlando by a dealer, His original asking price was $10,500 then lowered to $8000. The car had a torn top and a blown engine mount (you can check my other thread) I imagine that everyone that test drove the car was scarred off by the thump that occurred on every shift. Yes I did low ball the guy and offered him $5k, he said that he could not do that because he had $5k in the car. He later called back after he was unable to move the car due to a faulty ignition switch. We then settled on $5500.

2. I was able to get my top for $350 because I used to own a Performance shop and dealt with a large yard in Northern Ohio and became very good friends with the owners Son who has now taken over the yard. If you are looking for something please let me know and I will try and find the best deal for you.

3. My original statement "Spend the first half hour focusing on the seller and what they do, family, friends, pets, interests ect... After a half an hour the seller will feel as you are a close friend and everyone always wants give a friend a deal" had a bit of sarcasm in it. I was merely telling people to focus on the seller for the first half an hour to learn more about the seller and their habits and try and make a new friend. There is nothing wrong with that. Would you give a friend a deal?

4. Low ball? Why not? It's your money.

5.I paid $2700 for the Disco, for multiple reasons, The Po needed to buy a Mini van for his upcoming family. I found the drivers side head gasket weeping and the "three amigos were lit up". The Dealer only offered him $2k as a trade in and after he learned that I am an aficionado and knew what I was talking about he was very happy with my offer. Since the transaction he called back to know if I was interested in the roof rack also. Man he must hate me. If you knew a little about Rovers you would know that they are a bottomless pit for repairs and their value reflects it.

6. If you would look at my previous posts you would realize that when I said that "I have never lost a dime" you would understand how I determine value. I do not count my time in for repairs that I do myself, and that I count driving time as as value. For instance if I buy a car for for $10k, drive the car for two years, and sell the car for $9.5 I have not lost money. It's simple economics.

7.my statement "My job is to low ball people and contractors and get the best value for my money." I own a Real Estate company and I am a developer by trade and if you knew anything about my field you would understand the typical contractor. I do very well and I am well respected. Once again Max thinks I need formal education. I believe my degree in Architecture and Construction Management from DAAP is formal enough.

8. calling me low class again, Come on.............................. I have already admitted that I would rather be 3rd class than a first class ass like Max.

If you would also look back at the previous posts there are many that agree with me. I should have left the out the sarcasm out of my original post on buying skills and just told the op to make friends for the first half an hour. For that I apologize. Look back Max started out with the name calling.
