No, I don't have a life. Just spent my Saturday night watching everyone of these videos (had to watch "Jeannie" twice).

Here's my contribution. And how uncool was it to be in a band and have to wear glasses.

Embarrassing Ommissions

I am seriously disheartened and disappointed that NOBODY, especially one whose initials are "J" and "D", has yet offered this: JOHNNY RIVERS - Secret Agent Man 1966 - YouTube

Surely JD listened to that at least once whilst pursuing an arch nemesis through the Alps or making a getaway through an Eastern European city with stolen top-secret microfilm?

You all ought to be ashamed! Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Now for the really cheesy ones, try any one of these:
Jim Stafford-Spiders and Snakes - YouTube

Shaving Cream Song - YouTube

Maureen Mcgovern - "The Morning After" from the Poseidon Adventure - YouTube

Brand New Key - YouTube

DBear

Great choice in music. I thought that I was the only one who liked the "Gouda" ! As far as Johnny Rivers is concern, nice enough guy, but he was never anything more than a wannabe "square badge" in the world of secret agents.

I'll bet that neither you or anyone else on this forum knows the origins of that song. In fact, I bet the folks at Sesame Street don't either. Otherwise they would never have used it on the show !

Johnny Danger 12-30-2012 04:42 PM

Actually, I'm willing to offer one of my special Johnny Danger Keychains to any member who can explain the origins of that song !!!!

Marburk 12-30-2012 04:57 PM

Weirdly enough, the original song is from an Italian soft-core porno movie called "Sweden - Heaven and Hell". Here is the link explaining the origins and incorporation into the Muppet song:

“Mahna Mahna”: How a ditty from a soft-core Italian movie became the Muppets’ catchiest tune. - Slate Magazine

Either Jim Henson and his staff were in the dark as to the true origins of the song or they were perpetrating a clever inside joke for the adults "in the know" to enjoy while they were forced to listen to the Muppet songs ad nauseum.

RIP, JH!

Awwww... I was going to guess it started as the background music to a Johnny Danger bedroom scene.
