There's a techno tune from this Michael Mann (love his stuff) movie with Tom Cruise playing a very un-like Tom Cruise character (anti-hero/villian) that is very Bad-A$$. Collateral I think its called. There's this very violent night-club scene. Crowded dance floor with this tune called Ready Steady Go by Paul Oakenfold. Check it out:
Paul Oakenfold - Ready Steady Go (Korean Style) - YouTube  Miles Davis. Springville - Miles Davis - YouTube For some reason this Tears for Fears tune is something I love listening to with the top down on a nice scenic road maybe by the ocean: Tears For Fears - "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" - ORIGINAL VIDEO - YouTube If you're alone and in a retrospective mood. Nothing beats this Van Morrison tune Van Morrison- Philosopher's Stone - YouTube The Dark Knight Theme is haunting, intense The Dark Knight - End Credits Music (HQ) - YouTube Hendrix, cuz its just bad a$$: All Along the Watchtower - The Jimi Hendrix Experience - YouTube And if you've got a lady friend with you ? Michael Jackson bad or truly bad? It wasn't for the tune dude it was for the "secret agent" content. Besides, John Whetton is a good musician, cheer up maybe someone will make a hip hop remix so you can relate.

Bluegrass, baby!
|
The Porsche is the only car I have ever had that I seldom, if ever turn on the radio. I thought about upgrading it, even added a iphone connection and still don't use it. I'd rather hear the engine.

I have the Bose option, and "Porn Star Dancing" by My Darkest Days sounds intoxicating. Hinder, Three Days Grace, Seether, Theory of a Deadman and Saving Abel all will make you feel alive and want to break the sound barrier in your car.

I'm ashamed to admit that before I got my iPod interface installed my favorite CD to cruise to - top down - was Bruce Willis' Bruno album. Post iPod interface my favorites are Cake and Streetlight Manifesto. :)

Everytime I get a new ride, the first song I play is YES: Relayer. Been doing it since 1980. Other cool tunes:
Grateful Dead: Cassidy The Outlaws: Holiday Tool: Vicarious Motley Crue: Wild Side |
I like to hear some laid back tunes also so Buffet, Mathews and TSO. I like the fact that it is simple, easy going maybe it helps keep me a little under control.
|
Good songs that i recommend to driving relaxed to are:
Every Little Beat, Above and Beyond ft. Richard Bedford Even If, Calibre but I personally like songs with out lyrics because it lets me imagine what ever I want Campfire, Dinka Miracle, Blackmill or any song by Blackmill String Theory, Apex So ya I don't know if you'll like any of them and Im sorry if im throwing out names that not many people have heard of. |
Blue Car, by Greg Brown. Also pretty much anything by John Prine, Lucinda Wiliams, or John Hiatt. When I want to crank it up, The Rolling Stones are my go to band.

Thirty something years ago I remember driving down the freeway at night in my
'67 Camero convertible. It was a warm summer night, I had the top up but all the windows open and was listening to deep Purple "Machine head " when the 8-track ate the tape. It was the third tape that week that got eaten. I was so mad I ripped the tape out of the deck and threw it out the window. It was dark and I was doing about 60 MPH a few minutes later after I cooled off I noticed I had this tape strung across my chest , the tape was still stuck in the deck and had unwound and the tape case was bouncing along about fifty feet behind the car. Must have looked funny to the car following me. I sure don't miss 8 tracks. |
