bleeding brakes 03 s
is there any reason i cannot pressure bleed brakes on 03s.i read somewhere that this year is different

Never heard that one before. All I can add is that I used a Motive Bleeder on my 2000S without issue.

Here's the old way. 2 people, one in the car pumps the brake pedal, second guy bleeds the brake. Mind you, you will need to fill the reservoir after each bleeding. Don't won't to pump air into the system.:dance:

You can pressure bleed your Boxster brakes It is the easiestfastest way. You can also gravity bleed them if you have 4 hours to waste on a Saturday afternoon. That also is the cheapest way as it only take 2 feet of fuel line and a quart jar.

I had thought "newer" cars required opening of an ABS or PSM valve via the PWIS tool prior to bleeding

I've done my 03, 3 times, and both ways. The first time it took just what I said 1/2 case of beer, 4 hours , 24" of 3/16" fuel line, and a quart jar. Purchased power pump takes 30 minutes car in the air time 10-15 minutes to pull the wheels and put them back on. I flush 1 Can through every time with in a week of running on Track. I had the P dealer do it once , OUCH!

i was reading in 101 projects book that if your car has stability management-then it requires porsche tester 2 pst2 to activate valves in hydraulic unit during the bleeding process-what does this entail?

While many sources repeat this “requirement”, I can assure you that it is really not necessary to activate the ABS/PSM/PASM systems during a bleed unless a substantial amount of air has gotten into the system, or components in the ABS/PSM/PASM have been changed out. We probably flush the hydraulics system on a couple hundred cars a year, and we normally do not activate the system unless there has been other work done to the system that requires it. I have watched local dealer techs doing cars and they don't do it either, and they have the PIWIS unit sitting right next to them.
In order to do the system activation during a bleed, you would need access to a PST II, a PIWIS unit, or the Durametric software. |

My take on this is the ounce or so in the pump, supply, and valving of your ABS may not get flushed. The real area of concern is the caliper oil were the primary heat breaks down the oil or moisture forms, and that does get flushed
