A few days ago two guys on Suzuki crotch rockets were pursued through western Colorado at speeds clocked up to 165mph. Both ultimately crashed. One is dead, the other seriously injured. All the cops came out OK.

That's why I sold my street/track motorcycles. Speeds 170+ mph were too frequent. Even in the north georgia mountains, the speeds between corners were regularly over 140. With 0-60 times at 2.9 secs the acceleration is just hugely addictive on a sportbike.

Even at the nearby tracks, say VIR or Road Atlanta, speeds are just too crazy fast. Coming out of Oak Tree corner at VIR and screaming up past 170 mph with other riders drifting over into your line and squeezing you toward the edge of the track while you're cresting the hill trying to think about braking into the left hander - margin of error very small - just frigging dangerous.

Lest you feel the need to preach to this, don't bother. Motorcycle speed is like crack. Hmmm, I wonder where I can get a good deal on an 05 GSXR 1k? I wonder if there are trackday openings in Sept at Barber? Must have trackday fix...
