25, Design Engineer for fighter aircraft. Got my Boxster about 6 months ago. I also have an Ambulance and a Subaru Legacy that I rally race a few times a year. Way more fun doing 80+mph sideways through the trees. :)

61, I owned a pre A 356 back in late 60's and first half of 70's. sold it in SF when first kid came along, to make a down payment on one of those (too expensive) houses out there. My wife apparently remembered, because when I moved back to US after 10 years or so of working overseas, she had a very nice 986 Boxster S waiting in the driveway when I. Arrived from the airport.

47 year old airline pilot (First Officer) at a regional airline (that means I make a hell of a lot less than Bruce, and work way harder/am gone from home more). Currently in the middle of my 5th year in this profession. Went from making a reasonable wage as a project manager (hated that job with a passion) to spending around $50k to finish up my flying, to making $12k as an instructor for a year, to making $17k as a professional airline pilot responsible for the lives of 50+ people many times a day. I had been hoping to get a job at that major airline that is currently in bankruptcy, but now, I don't know where I hope to go. All that being said, I still love my job. As my wife says, "I love my job when I'm actually doing it. It's all the other crap around the actual flying that sucks." '99 Boxster is my first Porsche. Bought it to be a work/track car. Now it's all dinged up from the idiots in the airport parking lot, and after having thrown a bearing at Road America, I can't/won't track it anymore either. It's still fun to drive, but it is only serving half the purpose I bought it for, so I expect I won't have it much longer. BTW, it's funny that the spell checker on this page thinks that "Boxster" is a misspelled word. |
Wow that is a nice group of ......engineers

Hello!!!!
39, Regional Sales Manager - Manufacturer. My first P car!! 2006 Seal Grey Boxster. Its great for driving the Texas coast!!!!! |
Job
Minor cog in a giant wheel 70% of the time, 25% I do my real job Uncle Sam asked me to do, and 5% I am God's gift to motoring and style, top down and menacing public freeways.
Just turned 30, bought the Rainforest Green/Savannah Tan 986 with 5-speed two years ago and sadly only able to put 5000 miles on it. (See 5% comment) Not an engineer! PS However, my dad was an engineer and had a '75 Speed Yellow 914. PSS Grandad was an engineer as well, famous for helping design the brakes on the Concorde, remarked that if he'd had one of those he'd actually ENJOY working on a car! |

Not quite..
Not de-ambered, keeping it original for now as I barely have time to drive it!
Aluminum-look roll bars, 17" Sport Classic II wheels, PSM, wind-deflector. Only got it up to 130mph so far! Quote:

If I can figure out how to post the pictures I have a 10 scale RC boxster I built that matches my Rainforest Green boxster. Love the Green and tan combo, as soon as I saw the car I had to have it.

Thanks, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I did wrong. I'll start a new thread later with all the pictures of the RC car. (and try posting pictures again)

Old enough to know that there are too many cars on the road to feel safe on my FXE and KLR and not old enough NOT to feel the need for speed. My 2002 S fulfills the need for some good engine sounds and some decent acceleration. Put the top down, and its like having the most comfortable motorcycle around!

I love those wheels!

59, store manager for a large retail mattress chain. Up until 1995 I was machanic specializing in most German cars, then changed to retail. I've held a SCCA national licence and raced a EP 914/4, ITA Mazda RX4, 82 TIGA S2000 and 87 Swift DB2.
I grew up in the car industry and my first car was a home built VW powered dune buggy. The Porsches I've owned have been several 914/4. a 70' 914/6(my favorite), and a 63' 356B S90. Back in the early 70's my dad owned the Porsche/Audi dealership here in Ft. Worth, I was spoiled! My current 01 BoxsterS is my first Porsche since the late 80's, so I feel right at home in it. |

This is a great thread, I spent a lot of time thinking I was amoung like minded people...
I am currently a captain at NetJets aviation on a Citation X, and have been there for 11 years. I just bought my "01 S with 85k this past spring and have loved this car more than any other I have ever had, and I have had a lot of Detroit Muscle cars, but the driving experience is just un-matched. This is my first Porsche, but not my last. As long as the IMS stays put, I will own this one forever...Oh, I am 49, and guess what, my first carreer of 17 years.... you guessed it, Engineer... |
I'll chime in.

Age is 58. Got my first Porsche (914) when I was in my early 20's. Just got my first Boxster, a 2008. Spent most of my career as a senior level administrator in California education and recently retired from a college vice chancellor position. Currently head a consulting company specializing in public education clients and am school board president for a large school system. My Boxster is my reward for expanding the consulting practice even during this horrible recession in California.

I have rolled a Cat D950 in real life, off the side of a hill…. I was building a motocross track on a fairly steep hill, obviously steeper than I thought! Had half a bucket of rocks (the enemy of all MX racers) turned sideways a bit and OVER IT WENT! I was doing cartwheels in the cabin! About the third cartwheel I saw it was slowing down and bailed out the side like Superman! I flew through the air, no one hurt, the Cat was toast! I looked up and all my friends were LAUGHING!!! They heard a big GROAN from the Cat going over and then me jumping out of the cabin! With friends like that…. It took 2 cranes and another D950 to put it on the rubber again! No structural damage and I used the other D950 to finish the track! I can laugh about it now but it was a wild ride! Placed third in my MX race after all that too. Gotta love those Cats, even in JCB territory! |
