The deer got me!
Well, just a few hours ago, a deer hit me. He came out of nowhere. Took out the left front quarter panel and messed up the door. Lickily, I have insurance, but it still will cost me $500.00 in deductible. Little bastard...

Sorry to hear, at least you are ok.
I once hit a deer head on on a 4 lane highway with center divide, I was on the left lane, it was afternoon with cars everywhere...very unlucky me.
Afterwards, we were assessing the damage and we were actually very lucky the antlers didn't poke through the windshield like a dagger at me or my then girlfriend/current wife. You figure the poor deer lost his life though.

Nasty! Last deer which jumped onto/into my car left a lot of blood and hair and other things behind, no fun!

deers are damn scary
I've had some close calls but no hits yet.
glad to hear you're ok, can you post photos? I'd love to see what it looks like and what the insurance company says.

'tis the season... sorry to hear about your misfortune. You're in good company though as I was ambushed by two about a month ago. "Luckily" I was in my DD which is a large SUV b/c impact occurred approx 55MPH. I missed the one and narrowly avoided the second but ran out of room... For ins. purposes, as I understand, deer collision are considered an 'act of god' and thus not chargeable.
Good luck w/ your repairs

First deer I hit was on my driveway..
Since then I have had some pretty close calls.
To get even, I now butcher them. Have processed around 325 so far this year. Turn that bastard into some summer sausage

Been there, got the t-shirt
I nailed 2 yearling deer that were crossing the road together about 20 years back in my old ex-taxi Parisienne... gutted the one with the end of the bumper and just plain ran over the other. What a mess.
I had to crawl out the window like it was the General Lee because the whole front clip got pushed back behind the doors. There was no collision coverage on that old sled, but State farm paid out because it wasn't an incident with another vehicle.

Hit one a few months ago in my dd, not the boxster fortunately. Before it happened I figured 90% of the time a good driver would find a way to miss them. But, since it happened to me, my thinking has miraculously changed! Ha.
Sorry to hear of the damage to the car -- that really sucks. I got not even a flesh wound on the car, but the deer didn't survive what I thought was a glancing blow as it crossed in front of me (brake foot through floor)...

OK Folks. I'm trying to get the picture on here. We'll see how that goes. I just put a claim in to State Farm.... I was going to take my DD but at the last minute I decided to take the Porsche. For those of you that think you can out drive the deer....you have to see it first. It was pitch black and that SOB came out of nowhere.

Wow, that is nasty, Brockmeister. Sorry it happened to you.
Is your top red or is the sun playing tricks on me?

I like it. Reminds me of that 987 special edition.
Best of luck with the repairs. It'll be in great shape in no time.

One of the biggest reasons why I stop taking the bike to the mountains and took it to the track instead.
I got to witness a motorcycle split a deer in half a couple years ago and never want to experience that first hand.

It's funny that you mentioned that. I was considering taking the motorcycle. Good thing I didn't! I just spoke with the insurance company (State Farm) and it's going to cost me the $500 deductible. Pretty damn expensive hunting trip!
I was also giong to go to Fla. to see my folks but didn't want to spend the money...shouda went with my first instint

The body shop called Friday and said the damage comes out to $4400. The fender and radiator are toast, as well as fixing the door and front clip.
Happy New Year.....

I got hit a year into my new 2007 S. Right fender replace and some hood, door, and bumper damage. $9000. Minus the $1000 deductible, the insurance paid for it. Like new. Now, 4 years later, I am trying to trade in the car for a new one, but it is considered a damaged vehicle. That means your 'good' condition car is rated as 'fair' at $3K-5K less. Maybe your insurance company can give you a 'loss of value' payment (but maybe this only works if another driver hits you - I guess you can't sue a deer).
