I wouldn't worry about that too much.

The "will Porsche lose its' identity" was discussed w/ the 914 (flat, no curves like the other Porsches?), 944 (water cooled, front engine, poor man's Porsche with flip up lights?), 928 (big honkin' watercooled, front engine, way too expensive Porsche with flip up lights?), Boxster (watered down 911 cabrio?)

A different story for them all now, eh? I get more attention in the older P-car than the newer and one day the Boxster will be that classic too. After all, it's a P-O-R-S-C-H-E and that's all that counts.
