LOL, that's why I suggested "near, not "in" Laguna!

Hmm... Montage is booked that weekend already. Anyone have any recommendations on places to stay up there? There's the Surf and Sand, but it isn't air conditioned and they say it's a bit dated... no likey.

eslai - depends on how much you want to pay. I would look around Dana Point or San Clemente (my fair city) where the rates tend to be lower. There's a County Inn by the 5 Freeway at Pico in San Clemente that's pretty good. There are also a couple of places across from San Clemente Pier (The Sea Horse is one) but I don't know anything about them.

Hmm.. I'm having a hard time finding rooms at anything in that area that isn't, well, I wouldn't go so far as to call them "dirt bag" hotels, but they all seem pretty old.

What are the "nice" hotels in Orange County? Any ideas? Other than that Montage place (which is admittedly, a little over-the-top as far as room prices go) I haven't found anything that seems modern and nice.

Hotels

Ritz Carlton Dana Point (Just remodled)
St. Regis Hotel (New)
Marriott Dana Point Harbor (Nice One, not ghetto)
Marriott in Newport Coast (Marriott Time Share Hotel, NEW and nice)
Holiday Inn, Mission Viejo off La Paz road (old)
Fairfield Inn, Mission Viejo off Oso PKWY (old)
AYRES Hotel, Mission Viejo (35minute drive to beach, inland) (newer)

You can also stay in Irvine, anywhere by the Irvine Spectrum, where the 5 FWY and 405 meet, I believe there is a doubletree that is about a year old, its right next to the Toll Road (about 20 minutes drive to the meeting location)

Theres also a bunch of hotels around John Wayne Airport that are good and quick access to PCH. If you search on hotels near John Wayne Airport (SNA) you might find some open.

And more hotels around Fashion Island.
