Need an opinion - stripes or no stripes

Hi,

I need an opinion. I saw the car in the picture with the Porsche Design stripes and really liked it. I found someone on eBay who sold me the stripes.
My car is seal grey and the stripes I have are like a dark gun metal (darker than seal grey but lighter than black).

Unfortunately my Photoshop skills are not good enough so you guys need to use your imagination.

Will this look good or does it look "rice"?

I love stripes. I like more contrast but stripes are great. I'll likely add striping to mine this Spring. Your photoshop work is fine. If I do it I'll go with these in metallic gold.

If you don't like it, it shouldn't be too hard to peel them off... sounds good, though.

My opinion? I'm a less is more kind of guy. Leave the stripes to the Mustangs, Camaros and Chevelles.

I think stripes on a Porsche are not classy and very tacky

I don't like them on the spyder and God what they did to the GT3 looks like they just let a child in there with a crayon, especially the fender graphics, way too much GT3 plaster. If you do go with stripes make your decision on whether to keep them as quickly as you can, otherwise you may see a fade difference in the paint. For me, anything that creates another wax trap is not a good addition.

I'm a plain and simple guy, though I did paint my S logo red. The Boxster has very clean lines, which do not need stripes to make it it attractive.

Personally, I'm not a bid fan of stripes on most cars, but I'm not going to tell you that this looks bad. It doesn't look bad, I'm just not a fan of it.

Now to me that looks like the original color of the stripes in that picture you supplied. Did you actualy photoshop those slightly darker or did "use your imagination" mean "darken them in your own mind"? If they're much darker than that I'd really have to see them. I think the original stripe color is subtle enough to look nice without being like a silver car with a neon orange stripe, but if it's darker than what's in the picture I'm not so sure it will look as good.

Quick clarification:
The picture I posted is not photoshopped and is just for reference
My car is a MY 2002 and is seal grey and the stripes a charcoal
So you need to use your imagination

Thanks for all the comments so far, looks like I have a "hung jury" at the moment

Imho

I put stripes on my Galaxie when I was sixteen. But, I'm over it now. Just not a fan of stripes on a Porsche.

I'm not sure I like the hood stripe, unless it continues through the roof (which is of course sort of tough to pull off with the rag-top).

I like variations, I say go for it.

If you look at the parking lot of a Porsche dealership these days all the cars are the colors of mens burbury raincoats. Pretty dull and gloomy, afraid to make a statement.

Lambos are all florescent and neon and ferrari is the color of fire trucks and police cars.

Porsche in the racing world is bright and in your face. I can't tell you how many porsche owners say to me "I wish I'd gotten the yellow one, I wimped out".

Life is short, make a statement and if it is all wrong then you can retract it later but at least you are better for it.

Put them on. If you don't like it, remove them. Look at all the wheels and colors out there. Everyones taste varies.

No stripes. Even my friend's Superformance Cobra don't have them.

stripes give the appearance of motion (even when standing still). not good if you're trying to convince the nice police officer that you weren't speeding during your daily commute to work. excellent, however, if you are trying to convince that 911 to get out of your way on the track.

you race a lot; get stripes, go fast.

Sinc the car is Seal Grey I figure the darker stripes will work better than on Arctic or GT Silver. It'd probably be like a darker version overall of the car pictured above.

I'm curious to see what the result would look like.
