Jury is out on this...IMO. Still like my '04 styling. Kind of looks like MR2 styling cues.

Looks great but HUGE as jbs said.
I hope the roll hoops pass the broomstick test without aftermarket parts.

The ridiculously large side air intakes are a fatal flaw for me.

Not that I'll be buying one right away (so I'm certainly not their target demographic), but I swear I see a little more than a hint of Mitsubishi Eclipse in there - especially the rear quarter view. That lip spoiler needs to go.

Me too. Overall this version looks excessively "busy" compared to the clean designs up to now. There are lines going everywhere ... side strakes; corner light; side marker now turns up; new line on rear of rear fender, strake line runs through the door handle (?), even the headlights look "busy." At least this may end up improving our resale values, though.

we should probably merge this thread with the other that have the same pics.

Btw, I really do not like this door design. A blatant recycling of an old Carrera GT design.
I don't know why Porsche would waste an oppourtunity to do something new. Unless they had a bunch of old Carrera GT doors lying around in a warehouse. Such an overt design does not marry well with the more subtle front end design. This looks more like something that would be spit out by TechArt or the dearly departed Gemballa. And 20" wheels on a roadster is really not geared toward the enthusiast driver. That's leaving you with even less tire choices and blows out the proportions of the fenders. A complete contradiction of the theme of balance in a car that performs brilliantly without needing huge power. In others words...it sucks. I'll take a Boxster Spyder design every day of the week. Even with its SoCal only bikini top.

By the way. You should check out this month's Excellence. They do a Boxster Spyder v. Cayman R head to head
and guess who comes out ahead on virtually every time sheet?

They can make it bigger, more expensive, even faster, I think I am out of love with Porsche. It's sad how things change sometimes, my garage is full of Porsche posters, now I'm only keeping them with an eye toward defacement.

Porsche screwed thousands of people then when said people asked for help most were given a raised middle finger. I put an additional 5K into my Boxster, I should have kept it aside for the inevitable.

I want very badly to fix my Boxster to give it to my father's care giver, I sincerely hope I can find someone in the area to service the IMS which I believe is the only thing wrong. After that, I will sign outa here and leave the lovefest to those lucky enough not to pull a short straw, you suck Porsche, hopefully your unbridled arrogance will land you in the same place it landed Eastman Kodak. I'm more proud than I ever was that my dad and his buddies kicked your fascist butts.

Porsche styling is consistently derivative. Perhaps they ought to look at Ferrari to see how to break away from the past but still keep it a Porsche.

IMHO.

I agree with you Bruce BUT...It's not really a fair comparison when Ferrari has Pininfarina on speed dial.

Porsche is doing the same thing that Chevy did to the Corvette and Ford did to the T-Bird. Larger and junkier looking. I like clean and simple lines.

What year did PDK arrive? 09? I'm leaning toward a Box Spider or Box S PDK, once I get over my disillusion with the charming, compassionate, sympathetic, Germans.

It's terrible!! Is this for real? They are actually going to manufacture this?

It's so bad that it makes me like the 987 less because some of the worst elements are evolving... like the giant side vents.

The best part of the 986 is the curved haunches over the rear wheels. I don't know why they keep flattening these out on every new version.
