I've still seen a few spammers getting in; just today in fact...

Welcome Wayne,
does this now mean I have no longer to double post on Pelican Parts and 986 forum?
Hey, can we please also integrate the Babblers, so that I don't have to look at 3 places at the same time (no kidding)
Cheers Chris a.k.a "Hatzenbach"

I just installed the anti-spam filter this morning. Basically, it places all posts with URL links in them from newbie members into the moderation queue. This works great on Pelican, has cut down on 99% of spam. I also installed a spam-word filter, so posts with words like "viagra" automatically get tossed in the moderation queue and don't show up. Again, works like a charm on Pelican.

I've purchased a many parts from you as well as used your technical posts and the 101 book to wrench on my Boxster and they all have been extremely helpful.
Welcome and Cheers!

Now if we can merge all my rover boards with my porsche boards I might be able to cut my time posting in half...
Great news about Pelican and good on you for working on your own 959. DIY or Die I say!

Be sure to log in from 986forum.com - it should remember you then. The website is moving people automatically from "www.986forum.com" to "986forum.com" in order to maintain consistency. BUT, if you log in or have cookies enabled from www.986forum.com, it won't necessarily remember you at 986forum.com
Bottomline, enable cookies for 986forum.com and you should be okay.
Thx,
Wayne

I'm sure Wayne can keep that limiter from being so strict in the off-topic forum area, manolo.
Topless nailed it, Wayne. That's just about exactly the problem I run into from time to time, but more frequently than I'd like. Basically, if I forget to click "Preview Post" within a few minutes (easy to forget when writing one of my long-winded responses), I run the risk of getting timed out of the forum. A half hour would be even better, but ultimately I guess it'd be up to you (or a forum poll, perhaps)?

I sure didn't see this coming, but it has to be a positive thing. Pelican is great but moreso for the aircooled crowd. This should help move Pelican along with the water pumper group. I've never had that idle timer issue on this forum, unlike some others. I stay logged in for days here if I don't reboot or close Mozilla. I noticed I was no longer logged in tonight, likely because of the server work this weekend. Must be a preference setting in the browser???

Used to be but now I am logging in every time I sit for a few minutes. Not that it's a big problem.

No log in issues and definitely faster now Best part with the upgraded forum software is my browser's ad-block add-in now functions perfectly
Sorry to see Bruce & Rich step down from the helm as they've done a fantastic job but best of luck Wayne. Hopefully 986forum will maintain it's unique individual style
