I've had two customers ...

... with a very similar problem.
The trunk lid would not open via the release latch next to the driver's door, and the customer had ended up with the emergency release cable in his hand.

One of them I was able to get it open by simply activating the servo using a Porsche System Tester -II (PST-II) and activating the corresponding drive link.

The second one I had to drill a 1" hole right behind the actual trunk latch so that I could manually open it. Later, the hole was taped over using aluminum (A/C) tape. It is covered by the bumper, so no one knows it's there. That particular car was black so we even sprayed the tape black.
