If the car is in stock, you might look for the build date and try to determine how long it's been on the dealer's the lot. I went to my dealer in mid-March to put down a deposit and when I stopped by around mid-May, all the same cars were still out front waiting for buyers. Some of those cars are still listed in the current dealer inventory.

Maybe a good starting point would be to meet in the middle at $44K. Good luck!
