1999 boxster with 35k mi. suddenly has no headlights either high or low, though tail lights are on and brake/backups work. just has the dim "city lights" in front. using the passing flasher the high beams can be made to work. no lows though. any ideas ?

have you taken the headlights out recently? (might indicate putting them back in incorrectly)

how's your ignition switch? hard to get the key out?

fuses ok? connections inside the housing ok?

haven't touched them since purchase. i suppose they could both be burned out but why wouldn't high beams work ? No, the ignition is fine. Can't find any blown fuses

Could be the headlight switch. I had to replace mine last year. Did the same thing. Everything worked but headlights.

Take out your headlight switch, spray electrical cleaner into every holes you can see, shake it for a couple minutes. Repeat this a couple times, then let it dry for a day or so. Reinstall it. It works for me. $6 dollars fix or you can spend $130 for a new headlight switch.
