A/C Question?

Hi

The Roads were clear the other day here in WI and the temperature was around 29 degrees. ...... So I decided to take the boxser for a 20 minute spin.

I turned my temp all the way to low and tried to engage my A/C just to keep everything moving on the car. NO LUCK

I couldn't get my A/C to work/engage.

Could the fact that the outside temp was so low already be the culprit for my A/C not turning on??

No snowflake icon on your display? We rarely have 29 degree days here but if you simply press "auto" on your climate control and adjust the temp for comfort (72-76) the snowflake icon will be displayed and the A/C compressor will engage, even in cold weather.

I guess I will try the AUTO button

I simply turned the temp all the way down and pressed the snow flake button/AC button.

Try engaging the defrost. That should turn on the A/C and the heat simultaneously.

I don't know about a 986, but my 987 manual states that the AC compressor will not come on below 37 degrees, even if selected manually.

I tried all options and the AC will no longer come on here in WI. It worked great all summer so I hope that manual is correct and the temp isnt allowing it to turn on....fingers crossed!

I've found that regardless of outside temperature, selecting defrost will engage the AC and the snowflake icon lights up.
