are Mercs reliable these days? (I mean the German made ones) Whenever I go to my local Porsche dealer who is also a HUGE Merc,Aston Martin,Maserati dealer
the service waiting area is hopping with people. Just sitting there for a couple of hours I heard lots of different repair stories it sounded to me as if only a few were there for routine servicing.

I actually saw a story in the news not too long ago about the degrading quality of Mercedes. Most of the taxi drivers here in Germany drive mercedes benz, and not just the base models either. But recently because of degrading quality and increased maintenance costs, many of the taxi drivers have switched cars to cheaper reliable cars like-- even Kias. Not to say that the Benz isn't reliable, but for much lower costs the quality of the Benz does not outweigh the cheap reliability of the Kia, for example.

yes I noticed that on my last trip to Dusseldorf. The Merc Taxis were E class(?) with full leather. Everyone in Immaculate condition.
From Merc to Kia? boy you think they could throw VW a bone.

You assume too much about VW's reliability. Some people (me included) have great luck, while others have horror stories to tell.

Talking

According to my dealership, this car is a go. They are having to make their facility larger to deal with the new models coming so I assume this is pretty certain right now.
