Great road trip

Every year my wife and I do at least a 1250 mile road trip with the Boxster`Up the coast, down the coast, into Canada, whatever. The best part of having my wife with me is sharing time together, the worst is here constant speed recomendation reminders. Ed

A day after I took possession of my Boxster ( prepurchase deal included 30k mile service), I went on a 2,000 mile trip with my wife. Car drove flawlessly, comfortable with plenty of room for our stuff. I'm going on a long trip this weekend to Western NY and am looking forward to the drive. I'm surprised how versatile these cars can be.

Hi, I also got back from a 7 day stay in Niagara Falls with wife, the ride from Montreal was just incredible besides the constant check your speed reminders every 10 minutes .

I can't believe how economical and comfortable the boxster is on long trips and all the stuff my wife manages to fit in the trunks.

There are many nice convertibles (Roadsters Not Sebrings ) out there but as functional and fun to drive as the boxster none IMO.

Got back a few minutes ago from a 1700 mile trip through OH, IN, WI, MN, SD, IA and IL. Couldn't be smoother. The Box got just over 29 MPG the whole way (1998 Base). More than enough luggage room for the wife and me. Sailing along at 80 with the top down is one of life's joys. Just wish the truck drivers would be more like the gentlemen of the highway they used to be. When it take a truck ten minutes to pass another truck it gets a bit aggravating.

I just got back a few hours ago from a 7 day, 2,000 mile trip to the redwoods, Pacific Coast Highway, and sequoias. Attached is a photo from Kings Canyon. The roads were great, the car was great for the roads, and we hauled a lot of camping gear. I think the Box is very practical for a sports car. Unfortunately the temperatures stayed around 58 F most of the time, so I got zero quality pictures of the Assistant.

The car had a few issues, mostly related to age though. My Falken tires still had some tread when we left, but they were getting down to the wear bars. The tires just started falling apart though, leaving tons of rubber dust on the rear bumper. Within a few days the tread was gone and I was down to cords. An emergency stop in San Francisco then got us setup with a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's. We also had a check engine light come on - P1128 and P1130. Cleared it just to have it come back a couple days later... annoying. I'll have to look into that problem. Then on the last day the plastic window (10 years old) cracked. I guess now it's time for a new top with glass window. I'm just a bit bummed that I have to shell out for the new top now after dumping nearly $1,300 on tires!
