Best looking Boxster hardtop ever?
I saw this hardtop this weekend at the PCA track days in Buttonwillow on a "Spec Boxster on steroids".
No idea who makes, it, but it's certainly a super lightweight hardtop for Spec Boxsters: http://picasaweb.google.com/phigreg/ButtonwillowTT20100522?feat=email#5474720675217706 882 http://picasaweb.google.com/phigreg/ButtonwillowTT20100522?feat=email#5474721025037378 514 http://picasaweb.google.com/phigreg/ButtonwillowTT20100522?feat=email#5474717808870093 842 http://picasaweb.google.com/phigreg/ButtonwillowTT20100522?feat=email#5474717880135322 178 BTW: That was one FAST and LOUD (100 dB measured on the grand stands) 2.7L Boxster with a superb driver :D |
Not sure who makes that one but has anybody used this one?
http://www.zeintec.com/products?pid=21#img Does a hardtop remove the broomstick requirement? |

FYI: It looks like Zeintec has closed its doors but not with out stiffing many who paid in full for tops that were never delivered. |
^ That sucks. I had my eye on one of those Z-tops. Pricey but tempting.

Looks like even their own distributors were shafted. :( http://www.ppbb.com/phorum/read.php?19,1566343,1566361#msg-1566361 http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/32969-help-is-zeintec-out-of-business/ |
There may be one Zeintop for sale that was delivered but didn't fit the owner's car.
Not sure if it's still available & I have no affiliation with the seller. http://www.ppbb.com/phorum/read.php?14,1565386 |

I did not mean at all to derail this track. Maybe somebody can tell Chris who makes the hardtop he saw.
|
I believe this is the top you are looking for:
http://www.boxster-hardtop.co.uk/ I really liked the way that top looked when I first saw it, but the more I see it the more I like the factory top. But that's just my $0.02. |

The OP's photos show something with no quarter window and what looks to me to be a flatter profile (and something braced through the rear window?). Like a spec-Boxster top but...different. |
The Zeintop replaces the trunk, and the one I posted only covers the clamshell. But I think it gets really close, and you might be able to order it without the windows (but I don't why you would want bigger blind spots.)
After looking again I think it is most likely a custom top. A few spec boxster guys do make there own hardtops out of fiberglass. Just look at the third picture, and how the top replaces the clamshell to save weight, and the oversized braced window. I can safely say I have never seen the one pictured for sale anywhere. |

You can't be serious that this is the "best looking aftermarket hardtop ever" |

WOW... that is gorgeous... do they actually make these? |

I do like the French/Canadian (D-Moris) top!! I bet it's really cost effective in "version Kevlar/Carbone"! :D |
Am I the only one that thinks the UK and Canadian ones look like the same top (except the window)?

Where are you guys getting the Canadian origin of the D Moris top, the address on the website is France not Canada. Am I missing part of the story?

But now let's focus our attention on who's the jerk here. Let's have a look at: http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24919 There we have a nice old Gentleman who made his lifelong dream come true and got himself the car he ever dreamed of, a Boxster. Well and with his 70 years he not old finds this forum but also posts. I personally think this is damn cool. I hope that when I turn 70 one day will have the guts and energy to do that and not to buy the car that everyone expects me to drive (Lincoln, Cadillac, Pontiac or some other POS). Every poster responds nicely and friendly to him, so let's see what nice words you had in store to welcome him to this board (and I guess your 8 posts that you already managed to post allow you to climb all the way onto your high horse). Drumroll (I quote directly from your post): "Yes..... trade it in on a Cadillac. They have more room for a wheelchair." You, my friend are a first rate jerk and yes please do me the favor and keep your promise and never respond to any of my posts again. |
That is the worst, rudest, and most insulting thing I have ever heard anyone say on this forum. Definitely ban worthy on every other forum I frequent.

Yes, sorry I should have quoted what he said. I mean porsche666.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude,
I thought you didn't want to respond to my posts anymore :D And now pleeeeeese get the heck off this board and don't let the door hit you on your way out. Administrator, can you please ban Porsche666 ? Thanks |
back to topic, I really like that morris one. have any of you seen one in the real life? also how about the OP hardtop any luck on if its a one off or not? :troll:

Hardtop (zeintop)
For your Information
Z-Art automotive would like to start production for a Boxster top in Canada St. Paul Alberta. Andreas Zeinecke are the real Inventor for a hardtop that changes the Boxster into a Cayman look. http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?wo=2007054352 Pub. No.: WO/2007/054352 International Application No.: PCT/EP2006/010858 Publication Date: 18.05.2007 International Filing Date: 13.11.2006 IPC: B60J 7/08 (2006.01) Applicants: MITC AG [CH/CH]; Hauptstrasse 145, CH-8274 Tägerwilen (CH) (All Except US). Sorry both are independent companys |
Do not confuse Christoph Zeinecker with Andreas Zeinecke. The latter actually INVENTED the hard top design and has NOTHING TO DO with Zeintec. The two parties are members of the same family and that is a far as it goes!
Andreas has his own business, "Z-Art" and currently works from Switzerland. He is to relocate and set up in Canada with a business partner. He MAY decide to manufacture the Boxster tops later on in conjunction with all his other quality products but this will be completely separate to the Zeintec exercise. Andreas has run a successful and reliable business for many years and unfortunately, there are some who are linking him to the Zeintec debacle. This is WRONG and unfair in every regard and from my point of view, Andreas's reputation is as sound as it ever was and he should NOT be penalised in any way for what has happened to Zeintec. If Andreas decides to build the tops, they could possibly be made from aluminium which if course will make them much lighter and possibly cheaper but I wouldn't expect anything in the near future. |
I have not heard anything regarding Andreas Zeinecke and his possible hardtop in a few months. Does anyone have any updated information?
