Soft top pivot ends
Does anyone know if you can buy just the plastic end of the 986 soft top pivot arm. My wife broke one on her car and it seems silly to have to buy the metal part when the plastic simply threads on.
Thanks

Not available separately, maybe a wrecker.
But, you need to investigate why the joint broke. These act as a fail safe to break before the top bows contort, bend or break. On older cars, it could be fatigue, but it is risky to install a new one without insuring that there's no trouble with the top because the new one will just break too.
Cheers!

The end of the cable that fits into the electric motor had slipped in to the cable and was not engaged so when she went to put the top down only one side was moving. I am going to replace the cable but I was able to pull the end out about half an inch and get it to spin with the other side. It was a bit tricky getting the two sides synched back up again but I got it.
I was able to put the top up in manual mode and then get the rear deck back down and seated properly so she can drive it but she missed the nicest day of the year today.

Where do you live? We're expecting another 8 to 10" of snow on top the the foot that fell last week...I really wish spring would come soon!

I have spoken to Joe several times, he is going to rebuild my gearbox for me in a few months. He is a great source of information and parts plus he has one hell of a race record.
