Is this really Texas? I took this picture this morning for peace of mind when it's 105 degrees this summer.

That is amazing. I am in Houston and even though I am out on a business trip I have heard that we had some sleet yesterday. Good thing is it wont last long. Time to clean that Boxster. :)

We lived in Brenham for about 8 years, It would snow about twice a year, but never anything that heavy. It may snow in Jacksonville, this afternoon. It's been drizzling all day and it sure looks like snow clouds.

Glad to see that you too get to have some fun driving the Box in snow! It's a blast!

Quickurt 02-12-2010 09:25 AM

I don't drive mine in the rain!

My sister said in Dallas 1-2" shuts everything down... no plows/salt trucks etc etc...
Heck, here in Northern Illinois it takes about 1+ feet to close the schools:)
I can't wait till spring! My box is still sleeping under its blanket with the trickle charge on her.

It started snowing here in Des Moines around Dec7. We haven't seen the ground since. I have about two feet of snow on the lawn and 5 foot piles from all my snow removal efforts.

Man, I miss San Diego right about now.

Dessmoness...??? When did you become a Hawkeye?

You're going to have to learn the proper phraseology such as injecting an 'r' after your 'a's in certain words such as you no longer wash your car... now you warsh it!

You no longer ask people if you may come along... now the phrase will be: "Can I come with?"

You're going to have to refer to carbonated soft drinks as 'pop'.

And useful phrases like "Knee high by the fourth of July" are going to start creeping into your lexicon!

Seriously, I love iOwa! Great state with great people, and they say there's a girl behind every tree!

But, it's a far cry from San Dig.

Cheers!

We had over 13" in the northern Chicago suburbs...I think Florida is the only state currently without snow!

How about snow in Rome?

Rare snowfall in Rome as cold snap grips Italy
a copious snowfall …

ROME (Reuters) – Tourists took rare pictures of snow falling on the Colosseum and the Trevi fountain on Friday, and the Pope reportedly appeared at a Vatican window to watch Rome's heaviest snowfall in nearly a quarter century.

In scenes usually only glimpsed in souvenir "snow domes" Italy's capital was blanketed in white, snarling road and air traffic but delighting many Romans who rode scooters with their feet on the ground and snapped pictures with mobile phones.

Rome was last dusted in snow in 2005, but one meteorologist said the steady snowfall through Friday morning was the heaviest seen in the Italian capital in 24 years.

"It's very exciting. I have been taking pictures of my husband in front of the Colosseum because I thought nobody would believe me if I told them it was snowing in Rome today," said Margaret Jones, a tourist from London.

The ancient Roman forum and the Colosseum were later closed for safety reasons.

Heavy rain, snow and strong winds lashed central and southern Italy, prompting the closure of roads in many areas and some schools were shut on the island of Sardinia.

In Rome, Ciampino airport was shut and flights diverted to the bigger Fiumicino airport while the city's normally chaotic traffic slowed to a crawl in many areas.

They said on the news tonight that there was a small area in the FL panhandle that received snow today. That meant there was snow on the ground in 49 of the 50 states. Hawaii was the lone hold out. They said they didn't think that had ever happened before.

Here are some pics from my sister in suburban Dallas.

I'm amazed at the snow we got in the DFW area. I'm in the TCU area and have never seen snow like this in Texas. I had some fun today sliding around in an empty parking lot....always a good time. I will be thinking about these days when I'm burning up in the 100*+ summer in a few months....

No, there was snow at the top of Mauna Loa and Kea last I checked...it was there when we visited last year, as well.

Yea, I believe there's also a permanent snow cap on the top of Haleakala on Maui - 10,000+ ft. elevation. I was up there once to see the sun rise and it was 83 degrees down the valley, but 28 degrees at the top of the crater.

Cheers!

That proves you can't believe everything those rat bastard TV people tell you. Heard the 49 states / no snow in Hawaii stmt on 2 natl new stations. I'll check my facts / sources better next time. ;)

More deck furniture snow apparitions---It DOES sort of give the impression like somebody’s sitting in those chairs, doesn’t it?? I’m just tired of shovelin’ the stuff…
