Well is wasnt IMS bearing

A few weeks back I posted that I thought I had a IMS bearing rattle. Well I called over at Jakes and told them what it was doing rattling after it was warmed up.They told me that if it wasnt rattling all time it wasnt IMS . They said to check rollers and water pump. My car is a 99 2.5 so I decided to go ahead a do the 60k
service at this time since it has 59k on it. Well checked rollers and water pump for play and smoothness all felt good no play in anything . Installed new belt plugs checked orings for leaking on spark plug tubes. changed filters replaced brake pads. Tooked for a spin no rattle kinda lost at that time . drove about 250 miles
rattle came back coolant started leaking 10 miles from home water pump tring to
lock up. Well know where the rattle is now water pump tottaly wore out. strange
that it had no play and was smooth just 250 miles earlier. replaced it and all is well right now again . Thanks to everybody on the forum for you help and to the
folks at Jakes .

Glad we could be of assistance!! The water pump has caused several false alarms like this before, but atleast its easy to troubleshoot and replace.
