I'm curious about your ideas on the exhaust. I'm having a hard time visualizing how you plan to do this, assuming you're planning a streetable version with cats and a muffler.

I haven't actually seen a 911's exhaust in the car, but have seen pics of the pieces. Doesn't it exit the header towards the front of the engine (since the motor is behind of the trans) and then loops back towards the rear bumper? This provides space for the cats and muffler and allows for the dual exhaust. You won't be able to copy that configuration since you've got axles moving up and down in the Box to contend with.

Another option would be to have a custom single muffler designed to sit in the center rather than the current set up of a muffler on each side. Each bank would enter on the side as well as the outlets exiting on the sides. But I can't see this set up being more efficient than the current version, so you could end up choking your engine and losing HP.

A final option would be to drop the cats and design a muffler in it's place. This would allow for a dual exhaust. Removing the cats will produce CELs. And it may not pass if your state does inspections that require clean exhausts.

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on executing the exhaust aspect of the project.

.
Ahh but that's where the 987 and 986 differ. Our cars have a single "suitcase" muffler, while your car has the dual mufflers.
