Cold Weather Start

A couple of weeks ago my 02 Boxster (71,000 MIles) had a very rough engine idle at start and my check engine light came on a week or so before. I took it my repair place and they replace the PCV vent box valve and breather hose. I picked up the car and it was running fine... However now on very cold starts or if the car sits for a few days I have the same rough idle at start up and it wants to die. Once it warms up a little everything runs great and there is no check engine light on.

I just dont think this rough idle at cold start should be happening.

Any thoughts?

Is your maintenance current (spark plugs at 60k)?

I'm not sure... I bought the car in Houston with 67,000 miles and the book inside the car only had a stamp for 45,000 mile check. I changed the oil once I got the car and have had no problems until the recent rough idle issue the last month.

I took the car back to the auto repair after there service to say it still have rough idle start in morning but not like it did when I first brought it in. The day they tried to start apparently it didn't happen for them. I seem to notice it more when its sits a few days without start and of I was wondering if the recent below freezing temps had anything to do.

I guess then I may look to have spark plugs changed.

I would certainly run a can of Dry Gas through the system. Can't hurt.

Could be a lot of things - plugs, O2 sensors, injectors, temp sensors, idle stabilizer, etc. You need to either diag it yourself with a Bentley manual or pay someone to do it for you.
