I recently had this same problem whereby my passenger side visor would not stay up. It seemed dangerous to me actually, because it hung at an angle whereby if your head moved forward fast, your forehead would push right into the leading edge of the visor.

I tried to repair the visor first, and pulled it off the rod, but realized that once the interior clamps go bad, there's no way to access them to fix it without tearing the visor up. I ended up buying a good set of used visors from a dismantler on eBay for about $120, and that took care of the problem.
