prior to this I installed clear tailights.
other than that I haven't touched anything.
I did forget to switch off my V1 radar detector yesterday and it was on while the car was off for five hours or so. But everything else works fine.

it the fuse to the top one of the those large fuse blocks or a little colored one in the fuse panel where teh spolier switch is?

familiar with fuses?

I had the same problem last summer, but mine was stuck down. To make a long story short it was a faulty relay, which was easily replaced. The dealer told me that it was not that uncommon for these to go bad. I actually bought a spare and threw it in the tool bag just so I do not get caught again. Just something to check.
