door lock replacement
 

I own a 996 and I realize the 996 and Boxter share some of the same parts. I have a door lock which does not work. I can't lock the door with the key, and the remote stop working years ago. The lock works on the inside on the dash, but a lot of good that does to lock the door from the inside just to be lock out, some peace of mind I guess. When I insert the key to lock the door, it turns freely, from left to right, like something is broken or not catching. I was wondering if any one from what I've described could point me in the right direction as to what my problem is. Also, does anyone know of a DIY on this. thanks :confused:

sounds like the latch inside the door isnt working. or the connection from the lock in the door handle to the actual door latch inside the door has come disconnected. either way youll have to pull the door panel, and the latch out for inspection. I am trying to do this myself now, and cant seem to figure it out, so I am giving up and going to my indy shop.
