No major failure, you mean the car/engine is still running? I have 90K on my 2000 base and have been shaking up the poor little 2.7L engine with a lightweight flywheel for almost 40K now. Its a good thing its a convertible, because I keep looking up to see when the sky is going to fall.....

Cool, I have an 02 with tiptronic and 52,000. I love the car but got a little nervous reading the engine failure posts. sounds like Raby has a preventative fix.
I was sure there had to be some boxsters with lots of miles....
Thanks

1998 2.5L with 83k miles, 2nd owner, well maintained, stock original motor, trans & clutch, and never a drop of oil on the garage floor. She now has about 25 AX/track days with the only significant expense being tires, brakes and gas. We just did a thorough inspection on the whole car and she came through with flying colors. Still quite a sweet ride.

I have a 2002 2.7 manual with just under 80,000. I have put on 16,000 of that as the second owner. All original equipment. The only repairs I have made are a brake light switch, replaced the A/C display, and a right front marker light bulb. Runs great. Accelerates in 5th gear like no vehicle I have ever driven.
As for oil leaks, to quote Johnny Bench from an old Krylon Spray Paint Commercial, "No runs, No drips, No errors."

We've seen several with higher mileages. We've done valve cover re-seals on some, a starter or two, head gaskets on two, lots of water pumps, an alternator or two, plenty of clutches but generally the cars seem to hold up well. Only concern for a car that is running well is the IMS bearing, which we recommend updating with the LN part.

Highest '02 base I know of is around 230k miles by now
and a daily driver. Heck he has taken it on 5k+ trips after 200k. No work inside the engine.
So can your car go on forever? Darn near. He changes oil every 5k and pretty routine stuff other than that.

2000 S with 124,xxx miles. I bought it in Feb '06 with 60,000 on it. I change the oil every 5,000. I've added headers, guttted the cats, and opened up the muffler (the sound is phenomenal!). I also added an EVO intake with AEM dry-flow filter. The struts were replaced with K-sports, and I've got R-comps for AXing. There are a few other mods here and there.
I've AXed the car for 3 seasons, winning the Boxster class with the local PCA, and finishing in the upper third with the SCCA and another local organization. No babying here.
She runs great, doesn't use much oil, and hasn't given me any headaches other than the expected stuff: AOS, CV boots, MAF. Oh yeah, original coolant tank and clutch!
