Check Engine Light

Hi All,

1999 986 with 30k miles. This one was in the series of catastrophic engine failures so the engine was replaced with 8k miles.

I was waiting in a traffic line when all of a sudden the engine light went on. I noticed as it went on that it seemed something was pulling on the electric system as I noticed the headlights to dim briefly. That's all I can tell of what happened but the car drives normally, oil is fine, coolant is fine, everything seems ok??? Any ideas before I buy the code reader?

Many thanks,
Ray

Shooting in the dark at this point. Get a code reader or have your codes read for free at Autozone or Pep Boys and report back here.
