I did it to myself

Like an idiot I escalated the cable shift problem into a clutch job. Never had time to take the heat and look under the boxster.

The local stealer wanted a $2K which include 11-14 hours of labor. I took to an Independent, and they will do it for $1067.

My "good feeling" about his is since the car is used it was a matter of time befor it needed a clutch.

What independent you using?

Curious as I live 40 miles south of Raleigh.

Independent

The shop I took it to is Import Performance on Hillsboro Rd In Raleigh. The owner's brother owns the European Performance across the street.

Jaay unfortunately you are a long drive away, but thanks. If you come to Raleigh look me up.

The final result

I picked up my 97 boxster today. They replaced the clutch, installed the seals and repaired the shifter cable attachment to the trans. The part on the trans that the left right shifter cable attaches to was broken. After waiting for a part from Porsche that never came they made one from another Porsche model. I forgot which but it now has a very soft touch but you do have to floor the petal.

When driving home I had to stop for gas. It seems that every time I fill up the runs crappy for a while. I checked the oil filler cap and there was a good pressure when the cap came off. The fuel cap was on tight. What is going on?

I almost forgot the bottom line for the repairs was $1077.
