^ The Poresche clubs are what I've always described as the 'older wine and cheese crowd". When I would go to the Porsche Club Autocross events in NY and NJ the pace was always so laid back (including the lap times ! ).
Then I would go to the SCCA events and those were the scrappiest looking bunch of gear heads I've ever seen. No nice polo shirts and jeans that looked to be ironed, more like facial hair, clothes with oil stains and the time sheets were nigh and day. One group was separated by less than half a second down to 8th place.

Hey Randall... 109K... is that miles driven or dollars spent??

Seriously though dude, I know you've spent a small fortune on your car, but it is one of the most elegant looking boxsters I have seen. Just the right number of changes in all the right places. Nice job!

other p-car owners

@ PERFECT LAP>>>i hear ya!!!!!

I have run across a few porsche owners here on the island, and for the most part, they do not talk to boxster owners. Hell, even a few box owners refuse to talk to someone my age about the cars. Any time I try to "throw up a hand" when passing another p-car owner here, I usually get ignored.

Now while I bought my boxie for me and only me, It is sad that out of all of the porsche owners here, the only ones I can discuss these beautiful machines with is this and only this forum!!

so to all of the haters....I love my boxie!!

Most cayenne buyers are not the daily drivers of the vehicle as far as I can tell. Here's how it goes:

"Honey, I'm thinking about buying a Porsche. I've always wanted one since I was a lad, and we're doing well now, so I think I will go shopping for one."

"You've lost your freaking mind! I'm driving a six year old Navigator with 140k on it and everything's falling apart on the thing. You will be buying me a new mommy mobile, not your dream car."

"Baby, I have a great idea. Let's go look at the Porsche Cayenne and we can both get what we want!"

And now you know why they don't wave back at you. They're not really Porsche owners at heart... although they pay through the nose for wear and tear items on their cars just like us.

That cracks me up.

I was test driving a Mustang Bullitt brought it home, parked it in the driveway with the wheels cocked just right went in side looked out through the kitchen window. Man the way it looked it was a thing of beauty there was no way she was going to be able to resist this. I brought her to the window and did the big arm spread "Taa Daaa". She turns to me and in a very dry low voice says "Thats nice take it back" and left the room.

Now that it's time to sell my Boxster ($$ needed to pay down debt incurred for my '07 987), I'm appreciating its curves and fun factor more than ever.

Re.: the Porsche brotherhood, had two experiences this year. First, in PA last month, I flashed a posse of about twelve 911s rapidly going the opposite way, and only a few flashed back. C'mon guys, no love for a Box?

On the other hand ... this summer, while driving through an exclusive area of Long Island, on a long roadway lined with gated estates, a middle-aged guy unable to hold it any longer, I decide to park the Box on the shoulder while I went behind a tree. While I was still doing my business, an SUV pulled over right next to me and my tree. Annoyed for the interruption of my semi-privacy, I thought, what does this guy want, to tell me I'm trespassing? I looked over, and it was a friendly Cayenne owner just checking on a fellow Porsche person! He had actually done a U-turn to see if I was OK!

I think that's because most Porsche drivers never see an autocross or even partake in a Porsche club event. It is just a status symbol thing. I'm not sure there are many other sports car brands that can say that. Usually these types of owners go for Merc, Jag, BMW, Range Rover, Lexus. Whe you consider that Porsche is a micro producer compared to those it makes it even more peculiar that the wine and cheese crowd have any interest in Porsche.
