is thre a valet lock on the rear trunk latch?? I cannot open th reare trunk with either of my remotes yet i can open using the manual hatch. Any ideas?

I have not come across this but if there is a valet lock, that would surely be in your manual.

Hi there, not sure what you mean by Valet lock, but if I am assuming correctly, I had a similar problem when I got my '98 Boxster. I had a remote key fob, but it wouldn't unlock the boot (or the doors for that matter). I eventually discovered, that all I had was the key, with no remote locking at all. I had an after market one fitted, but still have to open the boot (trunk for you yanks

) manually.

After the garage told me it would cost over A$3000 to have the authentic remote key and boot release fitted, I haven't really been too bothered by the slight inconvenience.

If you are trying it by pressing the buttons on the key that look like the front and rear of the car, be sure you are holding the button long enough. It takes something like a 2-3 second hold for it to work, which is different than the main doors' unlocking action.

When I try the rear trunk remote I can actually here the mechanism inside the trunk move, however does not open. any thoughts?? i am thinking the latch maybe broken.....

Or merely needs an adjustment. Does the manual say anthing about Valet related issues?

From my failing memory.

There is a soleniod that pulls on a cable to open the trunk via the remote.

There is a second cable for the lever in the door sill.

Remove the 2 screws for the black plastic cover for the latch, pull back the carpet, and see if one of the cables is broken or has slack in it.

That one was easy once he said he heard the solenoid making noise. Valet????

His cable/wire in the white plastic holder must be broken. On this car it is the black holder cable which goes to the door sill levers that is broken.
